Terms of Service

Effective 2026-04-25

1. Who we are

TokenRoute is an API gateway that forwards your LLM requests to third-party model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others) and bills you in prepaid USD credit. The service is operated by alayion ("we", "us") and is available at tokenroute.io and api.tokenroute.io. By creating an account or using the API, you agree to these Terms.

2. Your account

You must register with a working email. You are responsible for protecting your account and API keys — any usage that occurs under your key is billed to your balance, whether the request originated from you or someone who obtained the key. Rotate a key immediately if you suspect it has been exposed. You may hold multiple keys and revoke any of them at any time.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use TokenRoute to: (a) violate any law or regulation, (b) generate or distribute content that infringes someone else's intellectual property, (c) produce material that sexualizes minors, (d) orchestrate denial-of-service against any system, (e) attempt to extract upstream provider API keys or bypass our accounting, or (f) circumvent the usage policies of any upstream provider we route to. You remain bound by the usage policies of OpenAI, Anthropic, and any other provider whose models you invoke through us — we enforce their restrictions in addition to ours.

4. Credits and payment

Credit is prepaid via Stripe. Minimum top-up is $1. Credit is priced in USD. Each request deducts from your balance based on the upstream provider's published token rate for the model you invoked; we log every deduction in your ledger and you can inspect it from the dashboard. Once credit has been consumed against a request it is not refundable. Unconsumed credit can be refunded on request within 30 days of purchase, minus Stripe fees. We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 14 days notice.

5. Service availability

We operate on a best-effort basis; no SLA is offered at the individual tier. Upstream providers occasionally return errors or degrade — when that happens we attempt fallback to an equivalent model, and if no fallback is possible the failed request does not deduct credit. We may pause service for maintenance and will do our best to notify you in advance.

6. Data

Requests sent through the gateway are forwarded to the upstream provider you select (directly or via smart routing). Their Terms and privacy policy govern what they do with your prompts and completions. On our side we log metadata (timestamps, token counts, model used, cost) for billing and abuse detection; we do not persist prompt content or completion text by default. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of your prompts and the completions you receive, subject to the upstream provider's terms. Nothing you send us grants us a right to use, republish, or train on your content.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting service@tokenroute.io. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, with remaining unconsumed balance refundable per §4.

9. Liability

TokenRoute is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from your use of the service will not exceed the amount of credit you consumed with us in the 90 days preceding the claim. We are not liable for damages caused by content generated by upstream models.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced by email or dashboard notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
